Tomiak hits the point, Källman makes everything clear: Hannover 96 also wins in Düsseldorf. The false start is perfect for the Fortuna.
Hannover 96 prevailed on Saturday in the duel of the promotion aspirants near Fortuna Düsseldorf 2-0 (0-0). In front of 37,590 spectators in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital, a transformed penalty and a later Joker goal ensured the second win of the season of Lower Saxony.
Boris Tomiak put the team of the new coach Christian Titz in the lead in the 65th minute. Benjamin Källman scored the second goal five minutes after his substitution in the 87th minute. For Fortuna under coach Daniel Thioune, the defeat after the 1: 5 with promoted Arminia Bielefeld means another damper at the start of the season.
The Düsseldorfers started the game better. Jamil Siebert headed just past a corner. In direct return, Benedikt Pichler scored the supposed leadership for Hanover. However, the video referee recognized the goal because Mustapha Bundu was previously offside.
After the break, Düsseldorf pushed for the lead. The key scene followed shortly after the substitution of Fortuna’s newcomer Florent Muslija: Matthias Zimmermann fouled Jannik Rochelt in the penalty area. Tomiak confidently converted the due penalty into the left corner.
Rochelt missed the preliminary decision in the 80th minute and only hit the post. Shortly afterwards, newcomer Källman made everything clear with his first goal for Hanover.
