A new squad planner has been found at Hannover 96. He comes from Dynamo Dresden, where he was released in April.
Hannover 96 has hired Paul Wagner as the new head of squad planning and scouting. The 27-year-old comes from league rivals Dynamo Dresden, as the club announced.
There he was partly responsible for putting together the squad with which the Saxons achieved promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2025 and stayed in the league in the season that just ended. He was released from Dresden in April.

“It was our dream solution”
Sports director Ralf Becker (55) had Wagner in mind from their time together at Dynamo Dresden. Becker was sports director there from 2020 to 2024. Wagner also started at Dynamo in 2020. “He was our ideal solution for this position because he fits exactly into the profile that we had defined for his role,” said Becker, according to the club’s statement.
The Wagner signing is not the only personnel decision at 96 this week. The club had already announced Jonas Boldt (44) as its new sports director on Thursday. The former sports director of Hamburger SV will take up his position on Monday.
