The former four-hill tour winner Sven Hannawald stimulates a standard revolution after the ski jumping chaos of Trondheim.

In an interview by the ARD “Sportschau”, the 50-year-old said: “Perhaps the monitoring of the suits must be handed over to a machine as soon as possible. Just as there is a scanner, there may be the option of having it checked by a computer program. The computer does not matter whether these are two millimeters.” The Austrian Christian Kathol is currently responsible for the control of the suits.

Three Norwegians disqualified

The Norwegian Marius Lindvik, Johann André Forfang and Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal were disqualified on Saturday at the World Cup singles on the Großchanze.

The World Association FIS cited a “manipulation of the suits” as the reason. In the competition, Lindvik had previously won the silver medal behind world champion Domen Prevc from Slovenia and was then deleted from the rating.

When asked whether this was a black day for ski jumping, Hannawald replied: “If there was a darker color as black, I would take it. This is an absolute tragedy, an absolute farce.” The Norwegians are accused of integrating an inadmissible seam into the suit. This increases the stability of the ski jumpers in the air.
