The Netherlands outclassed Argentina at the Women’s Handball World Cup with a 15-goal lead. France was shaking like the German team.

The Netherlands beat Argentina 41:26 in Frederikshavn, Denmark and had already set the course with 20:14 at halftime.

Broch comeback after two and a half years

In addition to the clear victory, the return of Yvette Broch, who made her comeback after a two and a half year break from the national team and scored twice, was celebrated. National coach Per Johansson used the game almost as a test match at times, making changes and helping 18-year-old Lois van Vliet make her World Cup debut.

Johansson then spoke of a perfect start on all levels: “I was able to use a lot of players, almost all of them scored well and showed good game variations. We were in a good flow.”

France happy, Iran overwhelmed

The French have yet to get there. In their opening game against Angola, the Olympic champions had an extremely difficult time and with a lot of effort managed a lucky 30:29 (18:15).

The Iranian handball players started the German World Cup preliminary group F with a bitter defeat. The blatant outsider, the next opponent of the German selection on Saturday (December 2nd, 2023, live ticker at sportschau.de), went against the EM-13. Poland with 15:35 (8:18) under.
