Dika Mem is one of the best handball players in the world. He will probably be seen in the Bundesliga soon.
The Füchse Berlin are apparently on the verge of a spectacular transfer coup: According to information from the German Press Agency, Dika Mem has given his commitment to the club. The Frenchman should therefore move to the Bundesliga after his contract with FC Barcelona ends in 2027 – only the final details remain to be clarified.
Füchse managing director Bob Hanning recently said: “He is a world-class player and as a world-class player you should play in the NBA of handball one day. Dika Mem is a complete player with whom you can win the Champions League.” According to the “Bild” newspaper, Mem should sign a contract in Berlin until 2031.
With Mathias Gidsel, Simon Pytlick and soon Dika Mem, an exceptional backcourt could emerge in Berlin. It remains to be seen whether the Foxes – as with Pytlick – will try to bring in Mem a year earlier. The then Füchse sports director Stefan Kretzschmar said: “Then you are in permanent competition with Magdeburg.”
Mem is one of the most successful players in world handball. With France he became Olympic, world and European champions. With Barça he won the Champions League three times and the Spanish championship nine times.
The transfer is apparently also made possible by new financial flexibility. According to dpa information and consistent media reports, a new, lucrative equipment contract is taking the club to a new level economically. In addition, the contract with the marketer was extended. The separation of Kretzschmar and the departure of Lasse Andersson will free up further funds.
Mem is also remembered by many German fans for a moment at the 2024 Olympic Games. In the quarterfinals against Germany, France led 29:28 a few seconds before the end. Mem played the ball directly into the hands of Julian Köster, who initiated the equalizer. Germany turned the game around and later took silver.
