Handball players Volendam underdog, but do not go to Limburg with trembling knees

The Volendam handball players will start the battle for the national championship tomorrow. At 2 PM, they will play the first game of the best-of-three series in Geleen against Lions. The Limburgers are at the top of the HandbalNL League all season and are therefore the favorite in advance.

“I think they are the favourites, but we have a good record against them (3x win, 2x loss). We are also not the team to travel to Limburg with fear”, coach Geert Hinskens looks ahead.

Infirmary

Still, it will certainly not be an easy series against Lions. Especially considering the infirmary.

Evert Kooijman, Robin Nagtegaal and Oskar Schöll cannot be used for the entire best-of-three series due to injuries.

More stable

Volendam won the handball cup two weeks ago. In a convincing manner, Hurry-Up was dealt with. Geert Hinskens’ team seems to be peaking at the right time.

“We have become more stable. And our valleys have become less deep. I think that is because some guys have gained much more experience now. I am happy with the development,” says Hinskens.

The return in Volendam is on Sunday 11 June at 3.15 pm.
