The well-known handball player Nils Kretschmer tested positive in a doping test. This now has consequences for his sporting future.
TV Großwallstadt has separated from Nils Kretschmer with immediate effect. The German handball second division team drew conclusions from the backcourt player’s positive doping test. In this context, managing director Stefan Wüst emphasized again that “there will be no criminal or sports investigations against TV Großwallstadt, its players or other employees.”
The doping allegations against the 31-year-old became known in mid-December. The Munich public prosecutor’s office is investigating. The Handball Bundesliga then temporarily suspended the backcourt player with immediate effect.

According to “Bild” information, low levels of testosterone were found during an apartment search. According to the HBL, Kretschmer was found to have “an analytical result that deviated from the norm” in the A sample during a competition control.
Kretschmer has been cooperating “fully with the investigative authorities since he became aware of the allegations. In this way, he will contribute to clarifying them,” said his lawyer Felix Rettenmaier.
