SCM allows Ludwigshafen to come back

The people of the Elbe town got on along the Rhine without covering themselves with glory. It all went brilliantly at first and with the 7:2 and 12:7 before the break it looked like a sovereign march through. But the guests reckoned without the ex-Bundesliga team, who were in no way discouraged and even equalized. At the break, the favorite was only 20:19 ahead.

SC Magdeburg, here with Matthias Musche (right) and Philipp Weber, struggled for a long time with the owls from Ludwigshafen.

In the second round it was tight at first, before the SCM increased the tempo and gained a 28:22 lead. The owls found no answer to that.

Round of 16: Central German trio at home

The round of 16 games are already set: The SCM can play in their own hall shortly before Christmas. It’s on December 21st against the Bundesliga twelfth Bergischer HC.

Second division club HC Elbflorenz will face the 2020 DHB Cup winner, TBV Lemgo, in Dresden. On December 22, Dessau-Roßlauer HV, third in the second division, is expecting Hannover, eighth in the Bundesliga. Ex-national coach and ex-SC-DHfK-Leipzig coach Christian Prokop has just extended his contract there until 2025.
