The Foxes Berlin presented in the narrow championship race of the handball Bundesliga. In the afternoon of Easter Sunday, the Berliners won a long contested top game against the pursuers of TSG Hannover-Burgdorf with 37:33 (17:15).

Foxes Berlin win top game in Kiel

The handball players of the Füchse Berlin celebrated an important victory in the fight for the championship. In the duel with pursuer THW Kiel, the team of Jaron Siewert earned itself after a good performance.more

Long phase without gate for the foxes

However, the Lower Saxony scored the first goal on Sunday. Thanks to left -wing Vincent Büchner, the guests went 1-0 in the lead and underlined what they have already made clear throughout the season: that they should not be forgotten in the championship race between the foxes, Melsungen and Magdeburg. In the initial phase, a completely balanced game developed, in which it was 6: 6 after the first ten minutes.

At that time, the foxes had not scored a goal for three and a half minutes, and as a result they remained inaccurate: Tim Freihofer failed from his left corner, Gidsel shortly afterwards to Hanover’s goalkeeper Joel Bire Lehm. Not least because Nils Lichtlein then threw the first seven meter over the crossbar instead of into the goal, the Berliners remained almost exactly ten minutes without a hit. However, because the guests from Hanover also missed numerous good chances, it was only 7: 8 after Lasse Andersson broke the goalless spell of the foxes.

Close game around the half -time break

As a result, his team found better and better into the game and their typical, often quick game. Again and again – even after a collaborative hinge – the Berliners tried to put the pace, operate their fast outdoor players or to complete them from the middle of the parquet in the person of Gidel and Andersson. So also shortly before the half-time break: Hannover-Burgdorf’s Marius Steinhauser scored for the guests four seconds before the end of the first half, but then had to see how Matthes Langhoff literally took care of the 17:15 half-time lead of the foxes at the last second.

“It’s not easy to be the best”

In the second 30 minutes, the game remained exciting and balanced. For the foxes, district runner Mijajlo Marsenic scored three times in series. He then clenched his big hands with great cheers three times. But the guests from Lower Saxony had answers ready, countered reliably with their own goals – at least until the middle of the second half.

Dejan Milosavljev becomes a strong backing

Then the Berliners began to tear control over the game. In the front, various foxes met from a wide variety of situations played very well. From Lichtlein and Freihofer to Gidsel and Andersson to Langhoff and Hakun West Av Teigum – almost all foxes contributed to the Sunday and underlined why they are probably the most difficult offensive team in the entire league in combination.

In the meantime, the goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev increasingly became a factor. The foxes goalkeeper not only parried the throws of its opponents several times, but even held the ball-a kind of maximum penalty for offensive players in handball. While the Berliners were increasingly playing in a sporting holiday frenzy, their guests from Hanover lost the connection and their courage at the same time.

The Berliners now conjured up by the now strong Gidsel (nine goals) and also gave magical moments in the form of two goals to the young talent Jan Grüner. In the final minutes, goalkeeper Milosavljev only stood in front of the fans after his next parade with concentrated fans and shortly afterwards.
