Season premiere for ThSV: The Thuringians achieved their first away win of the current season against newly promoted Minden – as the last team in the HBL. Eisenach’s best man was in goal.
The spell is broken. In their 15th appearance in a foreign venue, coach Sebastian Hinze’s team celebrated their first away win. ThSV Eisenach deservedly won against relegation-threatened GWD Minden with 34:29 (16:13). With the victory, the Thuringians are taking a big step towards securing relegation, they are now ten points ahead of the seventeenth-placed HSG Wetzlar and should have little to do with the relegation battle.
Minden can only keep up with the ThSV at times
After an even opening minute, the Thuringians increasingly took control and increased the lead to three goals for the first time in the 9th minute (6:3). Minden acted too harmlessly offensively in this phase, and there were repeated technical errors in the game structure. The guests developed a confident performance until the break, and even gained more dominance after the break.
Matija Spikic (ThSV Eisenach) celebrates against Minden.
Vincent Büchner in particular was never able to get Minden under control. The left winger was repeatedly released and finished the game with eight goals. Eisenach’s keeper Matija Spikic played at least as much of a role in the success, making 15 saves to drive the hosts to despair on several occasions.
The second half was a good seven minutes old when ThSV pulled ahead by five goals for the first time (20:15). The lead then leveled off in this area. Although Minden reduced the score to three goals again (48th/22:25), there was no real excitement anymore.
