Back at the top – at least for one night. Thanks to a clear 34:23 (16:12) away win at HC Erlangen, the SCM took over the lead of the handball Bundesliga. The second half was masterly.

SC Magdeburg has solved the mandatory task HC Erlangen with flying colors. In the second of three away games in a row, the team of coach Bennet Wiegert did not show any nakedness and won well. The SCM is therefore at the top of the handball Bundesliga at least for a day. The new (old) leader will be played in the top duel between Berlin and Melsungen on Thursday (May 29).

SCM attracts after 15 minutes

The SCM came into play well in the event of a very relegation -threatened achievement, scored the first two goals – but could not be very busy as a result. While the hosts needed almost eight minutes out of the game for the first goal, the green-red had some sand in the gear. So it remained narrow for the time being and Erlangen came to one goal in the meantime through one of the five seven meters of the ex-Leipziger Viggo Kristjansson.

The connection goal for 5: 6 From the point of view of the home side (15th), Magdeburg should, however, call on the schedule to increase the pace. The SCM threw itself at 11: 6 in the front (20th), while the HCE could only look after it. This five-goal lead melted by one point until the break-the bottom line was that the Wiegert team was almost safe with the 16:12 in the back.

Magdeburg’s Gisli Kristjansson once again towered over.

Magdeburg Tor-Rausch

Even in half-time two, the SCM presented itself wide awake from the start-with the difference that the green-red kept the pace this time. In contrast, Erlangen, on the other hand, got into swimming defensively and had to watch how Magdeburg first made a difference for eight goals in minute 46 (26: 18/46.). Meanwhile, a verbal outbreak of HCE coach Johannes Sellin, who shouted his team for half a minute during a break, could no longer stuff the defensive holes. In the final phase, the SCM even marched away to eleven points and ultimately celebrated a well -deserved victory in which Omar Ingi Magnusson with nine and Gisli Kristjansson had the largest share with eight goals.

Final sprint is heading too

SC Magdeburg hardly has time to take a deep breath. In the high-tensioning final sprint of the HBL, the green-reds still have three games in front of their chest within eleven days. First of all, the third away game in a row at the TBV Lemgo is on the TBV Lemgo, after which it is at home against SG Flensburg-Handewitt (June 4) and last but not least at SG BBM Bietigheim for decisive points in the championship fight (June 8).
