Hamas authority: Death toll in Gaza rises to more than 30,000

GAZA (dpa-AFX) – The number of people killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war has risen to 30,035, according to the Hamas-controlled health authority. The authority said on Thursday that 70,457 Palestinians were also injured. Accordingly, 81 people were killed and 132 others injured in the past 24 hours alone.

The numbers cannot be independently verified. According to the UN and other observers, the agency’s information has proven to be generally credible in the past. The information does not distinguish between civilians and armed members of terrorist organizations. When asked, Israel’s army said it had killed around “10,000 terrorists”.

The Gaza war was triggered by the worst massacre in Israel’s history, carried out by terrorists from the Islamist Hamas and other extremist groups on October 7th in Israel near the border with Gaza. On the Israeli side, more than 1,200 people were killed, including at least 850 civilians./cir/DP/men
