Hamas authority: Death toll in Gaza rises to more than 15,500

TEL AVIV/GAZA (dpa-AFX) – The number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip has risen to 15,523 since the war began around eight weeks ago, according to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health. 41,316 people were also injured, a spokesman announced on Sunday. There are said to be 6,600 children and young people among the dead. In addition, 7,500 people are missing. The numbers cannot currently be independently verified.

According to information, this is by far the highest number of Palestinians killed during a war in the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

A week-long break in fighting between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas ended on Friday morning. According to the Hamas authorities, hundreds have been killed in Israeli attacks since then.

The latest Gaza war was triggered by the worst massacre in Israel’s history, carried out by terrorists from Hamas and other extremist groups on October 7th in Israel near the border with the Gaza Strip. On the Israeli side, more than 1,200 people were killed, including at least 850 civilians. Hamas is classified as a terrorist organization by the EU and the USA./cir/DP/zb
