The budget updated as of October 8th dead and injured it is beyond 300 dead in Israel with 1864 injured, Hamas also took 164 hostages, including a German family, according to their father Asher Yoni speaking to Bild. His wife, daughters, mother-in-law and partner would all have been taken; he recognized them in one of the many videos released. On the Palestinian front there would be 256 dead and 1,788 wounded as reported by the Gaza Ministry of Health. Amnesty International immediately raised the focus on the defense of civilians, urging both the Israeli armed forces and Palestinian armed groups to protect the lives of innocents.

Hamas claimed to have had Iran’s support for the attack on Saturday 7 October. On the morning of Sunday 8 October Israel was hit by mortar fire from Lebanon, to which the Israeli army responded with artillery fire. L’Hezbollah Lebanese claimed responsibility for the attack and the Israeli army said it had struck a terrorist infrastructure in Lebanon thanks to a drone. The drones raised the alarm in the city of Tekuma near the border with the Gaza Strip as reported by Times of Israel. The Israeli army claimed to have hit several Hamas centers including a terrorist intelligence headquarters.

Israel has activated a center managed by the police and the Home Front, the agency that operates in emergency situations, to find the missing people. Among these also the people taken hostage by Hamas who would be at least 164. On Sunday morning some were freed in Ofakim on the border with Gaza, 10 terrorists were killed in the operation according to what was reported by the Israeli army. Local media reports that kibbutzim in both Ofakim and Be’eri have been liberated. It is the first time that a Hamas attack has managed to take so many hostages. The Israeli army and police are busy recovering them all.
