Halle gets ex-Löw protégé Ristic as a trainer

Third division soccer team Hallescher FC has signed a new head coach in Sreto Ristic. The 47-year-old was once an active Bundesliga professional under coach Joachim Löw at VfB Stuttgart.

At the end of January, the HFC announced the release of coach Andre Meyer. Initially, junior manager Jens Kiefer, assistant coach Max Bergmann and goalkeeping coach Marian Unger took over responsibility. Now Ristic should still manage to stay up.

However, nothing has changed in Halle’s situation, the club has not won in seven games and is at the bottom of the table in the 3rd division. On Saturday, HFC lost 3-1 to SC Freiburg II.

Ristic initially signed on the Saale until June 2024, he canceled his contract with Offenbacher Kickers for the commitment. The former Bundesliga striker should be introduced to the team on Sunday.

“Sreto Ristic meets all the criteria that we defined in the requirement profile for the new head coach. Now it’s up to all of us to support him and the team unconditionally in the fight to stay up in the league and actually subordinate everything to this goal,” said Jürgen Fox on behalf of the search committee after a unanimous decision in the executive board and administrative board.
