The municipality’s wish was a flask in the hand of Jorinde, who lives on a stone’s throw, comes from an artistic nest and is gardener. Together with other green lovers and local residents, she realized the Zomerplein, which consists of a work of art in addition to the planters, seats and a mini -modium. Above the terrace is a ribbon tense, on which beautiful metal shapes hang in the sunlight.

Beauty and comfort

“I wanted to create something that offers beauty and comfort,” says Jorinde about her design. “Beauty is in art, the variety of plants. And comfort, I hope people get it out of this. That they experience and think this place of peace: how beautiful this exists, how nice that other people have created this for me.”

She also secretly hoped that the summer terrace will lead to new encounters. “Normally people in a shopping street walk past each other.” What Jorinde saw from the opening of the terrace happen, exceeded her expectations. “People sit down, take the time and have a chat with each other. Tourists and local residents.”
