With its curious awards, Bryne causes headlines across Europe. However, the last premium attracted the anger of animal rights activists.

After the 3-1 home win against Haugesund, player Axel Kryger presented a living lamb (read more about this here). However, the campaign was not well received everywhere.

Ashild Roaldset, chair of the animal welfare organization “Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge”, reacted indignantly to the unusual honor. She explained to the broadcaster NRK that this had to “stop” immediately. It is a violation of the law that should not be tolerated. She spoke of “complete idiocy”.

Brynes Marketing Director Björn Hagerup Röken defended the handover of the lamb. The animal was only symbolically presented – similar to the Alpine World Cup in Levi in Finnish, where a reindeer is traditionally handed over to the winner. In addition, the lamb was allowed to graze briefly on the lawn. The requirements for animal welfare were observed.

In Bryne, Manchester City’s top striker Haaland learned football between 2006 and 2017. The club is closely linked to local agriculture – and sees the action as an advertisement for local agriculture on the western Norwegian coast.

It is not uncommon for fans to chant during the games: “We are farmers and we are proud of it.” If you have the necessary change, you can even follow the home games from a tractor-special VIP cards make it possible. For the upcoming home game, the club is again planning a prize with a regional connection – to match the upcoming vegetable season.
