Gummersbach wrestles Hamburg down

HSV Hamburg has to move further and further towards the bottom of the table in the handball Bundesliga.

The North Germans lost 23:24 (13:12) at VfL Gummersbach on Thursday and suffered their tenth defeat in their 16th game of the season. Hamburg lost seven of the last nine games (12:20 points).

Even nine goals from top thrower Casper Mortensen didn’t help the guests score anything. In front of 4,132 spectators, Hamburg missed the opportunity to equalize in the final minute due to a technical error. Gummersbach and national player Julian Köster only had to let the clock run down after an even game.

VfL (16:16) celebrated their seventh win of the season at the start of the 16th matchday and initially improved to seventh place in the table. “It’s a bit happy how the victory came about. But nobody cares about that tomorrow,” said Gummersbach goalkeeper Daniel Rebmann at Dyn.
