Gerard Joling is very enthusiastic about it: his single Twee Motten, a new version of the Dorus song from 1957. A real classic, but isn’t it all a bit stale? Story boss Guido den Aantrekker thinks so. He was at the desk yesterday Show news strong criticism of this new Joling single.

Weakness

Presenter Dyantha Brooks shows the images to Guido and says: “That’s a nice song, right?”

Guido surprised: “Yes, do you think so?”

Dyantha: “No, yes…”

Guido: “I think it’s such a shame that someone with such a good voice, and who has such a creative team around him, still comes up with a song like that from 1957. I think it’s a bit of a weakness.”

Quite difficult

Dyantha understands that Gerard is trying something different. “Yes, I think it has proven to be difficult. Gerard is an incredibly good singer, very popular, but it is still quite difficult to really score a hit.”

This is not the right way, Guido thinks. “I don’t think he really needs to score a hit – firstly, he doesn’t need that at all – and secondly, he can of course entertain in an amazing way. It doesn’t really matter what he sings, I just find a song like that so corny.”

Nice rhythm

René Mioch thinks it is a bull’s-eye. “But you know what’s so funny? I just heard you whistling it the whole time before the broadcast, so you get it in your head and then it stays. It’s a nice rhythm.”

Guido: “Ronald Molendijk calls that an earworm, so something that stays in your ear and that’s what it is. I just don’t think it’s a song for Joling.”
