Guido den Aantrekker receives a firm reprimand from Victor Vlam. The News of the Day celebrity finds the way in which the Story boss speaks about Yvonne Coldeweijer hypocritical.
Yvonne Coldeweijer has managed to get Talpa to sue: they have to pay her for another year and a half, until her contract worth around nine thousand euros expires. Does she have to do anything for that money? Joining Shownieuws seems to be the only option, but desk chair Guido den Aantrekker is very negative about that.
Reprehensible
Story boss Guido thinks Yvonne is not journalistic enough for Shownieuws. “I find her working method reprehensible. I think the juice she has brought, whether or not there is a grain of truth in it… I once described her as an e-mail inbox, a kind of distribution center.”
A distribution center for gossip, he says. “That she immediately puts everything online and then possibly corrects it the next day if it turns out to be untrue. Yes, I don’t think that is journalism. It is a form of journalism that she practices, I don’t like it and I find it objectionable, but that does not alter the fact that she has character traits.”
Victor critical
TV critic Victor Vlam finds this criticism laughable coming from Guido. “A Guido den Aantrekker who suddenly says: ‘Yes, she is a reprehensible woman’… Then I think to myself: yes, Guido, you are editor-in-chief of the Story and it is not as if you do completely different work,” he sneers in the podcast. According to him, Yvonne’s juice channel is not that far removed from Guido’s gossip magazine/puzzle book. “It is a little bit in line with each other.”
Good
Victor agrees that the Stories and Privates of this world have become much more boring these days. “It’s true that tabloids these days have become a bit more well-behaved than they used to be and juice channels aren’t, certainly not her juice channel, but it’s pretty much the same job, right?”
He concludes: “So I think that you find her reprehensible is going a bit far. It also feels as if you want to set yourself against her in order to make yourself bigger. That seems to be the case to some extent.”
