Eight stolen bicycles in two weeks
Fortunately for Lotte, she has properly insured her bike and gets a new one. After the theft, she visits the bicycle shop in Langedijk where she bought her e-bike to give up her bike as stolen. There she is told that she is not the only victim. “You are number eight in two weeks that a bicycle comes to give up as stolen,” Lotte hears.
A ‘hotplace’ for bicycle thieves, the police call the Alkmaar station. In the first months of this year, the neighborhood in which Station Noord is located is noticeable.
“For the Daalmeer, Koedijk, De Mare and Huiswaard districts, I see 93 reports of bicycles stolen there,” writes a spokesperson for the period between January 1 and May 31. “The Huiswaard district (which includes Station Noord) is a so -called ‘hotplace’, which stands out negatively due to the number of 55 bicycle thefts.”
