Grönemeyer addresses fans with moving words

Because of several corona infections, Herbert Grönemeyer and his band had to cancel the “Mensch” anniversary tour. Now the artist apologized to his fans on Instagram.

Actually, “Mensch”, the most successful album of his career, should be celebrated. But then Grönemeyer’s management announced that all performances between May 26 and June 8 had to be canceled. The artist and his crew became infected with Corona.

“I am so sorry”

Now the 66-year-old spoke up on Instagram himself. “We are completely shocked,” he wrote in the post, titled “Letter from Herbert.” Until the last minute, it was hoped that the virus would miraculously disappear. The crew even set up the production for the concert in Hanover, in case they were still able to play. That was “unfortunately in vain”, says Grönemeyer.

After the “rather brittle” concert cancellation, he wanted to address the letter directly to his fans, it is said. Grönemeyer “I’m so sorry”, it pains him to see how many “have made an effort for a year”. The tour cannot be made up for, but he and his team want to include the “Mensch” songs in particular at concerts in 2023.

“Mensch” was released in 2002 and, with over 3.15 million copies sold, is one of the best-selling albums of all time in Germany. The single of the same name was Grönemeyer’s first number one hit in Germany and Austria.
