Two Japanese professional boxers died a few days after fighting at the same event.
This was reported by the Boxing Associations World Boxing Organization (WBO) and World Boxing Coucil (WBC). The two boxers Hiromasa Urakawa and Shigetoshi Kotari had boxed in different struggles on August 2 in the Korakuen-Arena in Tokyo.
“The boxing world is shocked and deeply affected by the tragic death of two boxers,” said WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman on the platform X.
As the WBO announced on Instagram, the 28 -year -old Urakawa succumbed to the injuries in a tragic way after his duel with Yoji Saito.
According to the Japanese boxing commission, the athlete suffered a brain hemorrhage. The lightweight started for a fight with eight rounds. Urakawa lost the fight through technical knockout.
According to the WBC boxing association, Shigetoshi Kotari also died of the consequences of a brain injury at the age of 28. According to information from the Japanese boxing commission, it was also a brain bleeding.
