Greuther Fürth has tied central defender Maximilian Dietz to the club on a long-term basis. Instead of running until 2025, the 22-year-old’s contract now runs until 2027, as Kleeblatt announced. Dietz has been active for Fürth since 2022, first for the second team as captain, before he was promoted to the professionals at the beginning of 2023. He played 24 competitive games there this season, only missing one game.

“Maxi is one of many prime examples we have right now. Young players simply want and need to play. They can earn this opportunity with us, and that’s exactly what Maxi did. The development he has made is really great and we are delighted that he has signed this long-term contract with Kleeblatt,” said sports director Rachid Azzouzi. Coach Alexander Zorniger added: “Maxi’s development is really impressive. He is very willing to learn and soaks up all the information. Although he is still very young, he is already taking on responsibility and always tries to encourage his colleagues. Maxi helps us enormously with his flexible style of play and I am sure that together we will make him an even more complete defender.”
