Greuther Fürth suffers a severe setback at KSC

SpVgg Greuther Fürth failed in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga. The weak Franconians lost 0:4 (0:1) at Karlsruher SC and remain fifth.

Igor Matanovic (42nd, 78th) and Fabian Schleusener (86th, 90th) scored the goals for coach Christian Eichner’s team. KSC, which has been unbeaten at home since the beginning of November, improved to eighth place. Marvin Wanitzek’s missed penalty kick (54′) didn’t bother either.

The hosts got off to a stormy start. Matanovic (11th, 23rd) and Wanitzek (25th) missed good opportunities. Then Matanovic took the lead after a cross from Wanitzek.

After the substitution, Wanitzek was fouled, but he put the penalty next to the goal. Fürth only got a little better in the last half hour. Armindo Sieb (66th) had the best chance to equalize. Then Matanovic made the decision with his tenth goal of the season.
