Vulnerable households can also be eligible for support via an energy fund this year. That is the outcome of a new round conversations between the cabinet and the energy sector. We are now working together to be able to open the fund as quickly as possible.

“Many households are worried whether they can pay the energy bill. For them it is good news that they can still request support this year. I want to thank the energy sector for their willingness to contribute ”, Says Responsible State Secretary Jurgen Nobel (SZW).

“With the Energy Fund we will help vulnerable households with high energy prices in the short term. In addition, as a cabinet we continue to work on structural solutions to keep the energy bill affordable. ” Thus Minister Sophie Hermans (KGG).

This is a public-private fund, where vulnerable households receive support in paying the energy bill. This year € 60 million was reserved from the government for help with paying the energy bill. The energy sector is willing to bear the implementation costs of the fund.

Opening Fund

The government intends to grant a subsidy to the Temporary Emergency Fund Energie Fund (TNE) Foundation. This is because of the experience and expertise that they have gained in recent years with the Emergency Fund Energy. TNE needs at least 8 weeks to get the energy fund operational. Before the counter can be opened, it must be confirmed that the implementation costs are definitively covered by parties other than the government. This is important because otherwise there is a risk that the fund will be seen as state aid.

It is not yet known as of which date of households can submit an application to the Energy Fund. The way in which the help with sustainability takes shape is also further elaborated. The cabinet will inform the House of Representatives about this in the short term.

People can on the website of the Temporary Emergency Fund Energie (Temporary Emergency Fund Energy) Leave their data. They will then be notified when it is clear when the energy fund will open.
