Sweden won the under-20 ice hockey world championship. In an exciting final, the western neighbor defeated the Czech Republic 4–2.

This is how Casper Juustovaara took Sweden to a 1–0 lead in the World Cup final. PDO

The Czech Republic and Sweden played in the under-20 men’s ice hockey World Cup final. The championship was won by Sweden with numbers 4–2.

Only one goal was seen in the opening set. Swedish Casper Cheese Danger scored an underpowered goal from Jack Berglund’s pass.

Juustoavaara has strong roots in Finland, as Iltalehti reported during the games. The attacker’s father was born in Kemi.

– We need dirty goals. We have to go to the goal, this is not so pretty now, said Chekin Vaclac Nestrasil during the first halftime interview with TV5.

Another one for Sweden

Sascha Boumedienne, born in Oulu, scored a goal in the World Cup final. The defender’s father, Josef, used to play in Tappara, Kärpi and Jokerei. AOP / TIIA MAHKONEN

Sweden increased its lead to two goals in the second period. The scorer was Victor Eklund and the pitchers were Ivar Stenberg and Berglund again.

Sascha Boumnedienne didn’t want to even talk about the world championship after two rounds.

– We need more goals in the last set. We have to continue playing the same game, but we don’t have the taste of gold in our mouths yet, said the Oulu-born defender.

That’s how the gold was solved

After 3:46 of the final set, Boumedienne shot handsomely from the front corner to make it 3-0. They passed the goal Viggo Björk and Stenberg.

At last, at this stage, the gold medal started to be on the minds of the Swedes.

However, the Czech Republic made the game tense by scoring two goals in the last two and a half minutes.

Stenberg ended the game eight seconds before the end and scored a 4–2 victory for Sweden.

Junior crown last won the world championship in 2012, i.e. 14 years ago.

So Sweden is this year’s under-20 world champion and the Czech Republic is runner-up. Canada won bronze and Finland was fourth.
