Modelo’s top-of-the-range model, based on the Mercedes-Benz Actros, offers plenty of space and five-star comfort, including the possibility of accommodating a car inside
Contrary to what the name suggests, Morelo is not a manufacturer of Italian or Spanish maxi campers. It is 100% German, born only ten years ago but capable of quickly making a name for itself in the high end of the market alongside historic brands such as Concorde and Niesmann+Bischoff. It is no coincidence that I called the range more luxurious Grand Empire compared to which the “integral” campers, the technical name for motorhomes, made by generalist manufacturers seem like toys. The Grand Empire catalog includes well 18 modelshalf of which are offered with “slide-out”, a removable side extension to further increase interior space. The most modest model, relatively speaking, it starts from 599,900 euros: it derives, like all the other Morelos, from the Mercedes-Benz Actros and is powered by a six-cylinder diesel with 314 HP of power. The Grand Empire 98 LSB, this is the name, measures 10 meters longwith a curb weight of 10 tons.
a 530 hp diesel

This is nothing compared to the top of the range, the Grand Empire 120: 12 meters long by 2.55 meters wide and 3.86 meters high. A half from 16 tonsequipped with a 530 HP and a 12-speed automatic transmission. As mentioned, it has the same base as the 98 but with an additional axle which guarantees better maneuverability and less tire wear. Furthermore, there is no shortage of them pneumatic suspensiondriving assistance systems complete with MirrorCam and Birdview camera and the electronic lifting support system. For long range trips, lithium batteries and solar panels are included as standard. For hot days, the Grand Empire 120 has several air conditioners mounted on the roof in the living areas, while for low temperatures there is underfloor heating. To facilitate the work of the air conditioning systems, the external walls and the roof are reinforced, while the windows are double glazed. An added touch is the large rear space set up as a garage, which can accommodate sports cars up to 4.60 meters in length without problems.
FROM 800 THOUSAND EUROS

The driving cab has two splendid air-conditioned and pivoting seats that can be turned completely to get closer to the rear dinette. The living space includes a generous double bed, with a sea of storage and cabinets, and a luxury kitchen. In addition to an induction hob and oven, there is a 196-litre fridge with freezer compartment and a dishwasher. In the rear, travelers can watch the sky through a large panoramic roof window. An electric lift bed is optional. The Oyster V satellite TV system is formidable with its 39″ LED flat screen, installed above the passenger seat. The prices? They start from around 800 thousand eurosbut on vehicles like the Grand Empire the rate of customization of the equipment and finishes is very high, so the price list figures are only indicative.
