Grammys 2024: Killer Mike apparently taken away in handcuffs

Killer Mike won three trophies at the 2024 Grammys – and left the building in handcuffs.

Actually, February 4, 2024 was supposed to be a triumphant day for the rapper Killer Mike. He was awarded a Grammy Award three times – he won in the categories “Best Rap Performance”, “Best Rap Song” and “Best Rap Album”. But not everything seems to have gone quite smoothly.

As reported by several US media outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter, the 48-year-old was taken away in handcuffs from the Crypto.com Arena, where the Grammys were awarded. The reason for this is said to have been a physical altercation. Exact details are unclear – “TMZ” reports an argument with a security employee at the Grammys, other sources say that the incident had nothing to do with the Grammys.

In any case, on a video published on X you can see the musician leaving the building in handcuffs:

Police spokesman remains vague

An LAPD spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter: “At approximately 4 p.m., a person was arrested in the [Crypto.com Arena] arrested for a physical altercation. The person is currently being questioned. I cannot confirm the person’s identity until the person is charged.” The industry newspaper, however, quotes an unnamed source who describes the incident as a “big nothing”. Neither the Grammy Awards nor Killer Mike have yet publicly commented on this incident.

That was the 2024 Grammys

Phoebe Bridgers took home the most Grammys that evening: she shared three of them with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker from her band Boygenius. In addition to Killer Mike, SZA, Victoria Monét and the “Barbie” soundtrack each received three awards. Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift were also happy: they each received two trophies.
