Frankfurt flies against Tottenham from the Europa League. That is bitter, but it doesn’t remain the only bad news that evening.
Eintracht Frankfurt may have to do without Mario Götze in the end of the season. The 32-year-old injured his thigh on Thursday evening at the Europa League quarter-finals against Tottenham Hotspur (0-1) and was replaced after 17 minutes.
After the defeat, coach Dino Toppmöller explained to the “Spurs” at RTL: “It is certainly at least a slight fiber tear.” It is hoped that Götze can be on the pitch again this season. “But we have to wait,” said the Frankfurt coach.
Götze has played 35 competitive games for Eintracht this season. The 2014 world champion will have five goals and three templates.
Frankfurt is fighting for a place in the Champions League in the Bundesliga. Before the 30th matchday, on which the team competes at FC Augsburg on Sunday (3:30 p.m./DAZN), Hesse ranked third. The lead to fifth place is five points.
