Inter Milan missed out on a win in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Italian Cup on the debut of national soccer player Robin Gosens.

The struggling champions drew 0-0 at city rivals AC in the Derby della Madonnina, the decider being decided in the second leg on 20 April. Gosens, who joined the Nerazzurri from Atalanta Bergamo, came on in the 88th minute for former Bayern professional Ivan Perisic.

Before the Milan derby, the fans held up around 55,000 thousand small-format Ukraine flags, the Ukrainian Milan legend Andrei Shevchenko campaigned in a video message for the support of the “Italian friends” for peace in Ukraine: “Let’s build this together end the war.”

During the warm-up, the Milan players wore white T-shirts with the Ukrainian flag and the word “Peace”.

In the second semi-final on Wednesday record champions Juventus Turin and AC Fiorentina meet for the first leg.
