Isabel Gose won the silver medal in the 800 meter freestyle at the European Swimming Championships.
The 20-year-old scored in Rome after 8:22.01 minutes and was only beaten by Simona Quadarella from Italy.
Bronze went to Merve Tuncel from Turkey. For Gose it was the first individual medal at a major international championship on the long track. At the World Championships in Budapest, about a month and a half ago, she took sixth place as the second best European.
The second German finalist Leonie Beck swam in eighth place.
