Bayern Munich, who are at the top of the German league, says on their websitethat the team’s head coach Gordon Herbert66, resigns.
The Canadian-Finnish top coach had time to pilot the big club for 1.5 years.
Bayern Munich says that Herbert discussed the matter with the club on Saturday. According to the club, the decision was made by consensus, because “both parties saw that the solution would be in the best interest of the club”.
Bayern’s games continue on Sunday against Bonn away. The team is led by assistant coaches.
In Germany, Bayern Munich has won eight out of nine games in the early season. However, the pace has been different in the Euroleague. There are only five wins out of 17 games. Bayern is in second last place in the Euroleague.
Herbert led Germany to become the world basketball champion in 2023. He was chosen Coach of the Year in Finland in the same year.
In addition, Herbert has won, among other things, the German championship and the French cup. He has a Finnish wife and two sons who have played in the Korisliiga.
