‘People went wild here’
UTRECHT – Piece by piece the riders were beaming on the presentation stage in the center of Utrecht. Applauded by the public when their name was announced, and certainly when it concerned a Dutchman, the roof went off, so to speak. Robert Gesink, who was also there at the start of the Tour in 2015, thoroughly enjoyed it again during this Vuelta overture. “People went crazy when we were on that stage. Really great to experience”, said the 36-year-old veteran, who has to help Primoz Roglic to his fourth overall victory in a row.
