Congratulations Robert De Niro! The 80th anniversary of a cinema legend

Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) has, since he was a child, a single ambition: to become a mafioso. He will succeed: the scene in which he skips the line at the nightclub and a table is literally lifted over the customers’ heads to make room for him and his future wife tells us something about the seduction of power.

We follow his story and that of the other good guys for thirty yearsin the phase of youthful arrogance and then in that of decline, assuming the point of view of the future traitor, so the world of the mafia ends up becoming the whole world.

The real Henry Hill will in fact end up in the FBI’s Witness Protection Program and the story of his life, delivered to Nicholas Pileggi who translated it into the novel Crime pays wellis the basis of the film.

Those good guys was nominated for six Oscars in 1991, Joe Pesci won for best supporting actor. Scorsese’s mother plays a delightful cameo serving dinner to “boys” waiting to commit a murder.

Iris celebrates Robert De Niro’s 80th birthday with a mini-review: Goodfellasi.e Are all well on August 19, Sleepers And Killer fire on 20 August.

For those who know how to abandon themselves to the charm of the legend.
