Finland’s judo stars Martti Puumalainen and Eetu Ihanamäki both took home gold at the Australian Oceania Open on Sunday.

Ihanamäki, who competed in the under-81-kilogram category, started directly from the second round and advanced to the final with victories over Greece Jordan from Kouros and the host country Keishin from Ochi.

In the final match, Ihanamäki defeated the United States by Dominic Rodriques with binding.

In the over 100-kilogram weight class, Puumalainen’s handling softened first for New Zealand Kody Andrews. In the final, the host country Kayhan Ozcicek-Takagi had to state that Puumalainen was stronger, when “Marasonni” succeeded in his backwards leg throw worthy of Ippon.
