Goalkeeping talent new on the list

Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich have extended their contracts with FC Bayern until 2025. But what does the future look like in the goal of the German record champions? There are already several players on the list, including an absolute top talent.

FC Bayern has Ligue 1 shooting star Guillaume Restes from FC Toulouse on the list, Sky reports.

The young Frenchman has been the regular goalkeeper for the reigning cup winners since this season and has already played 20 competitive games in 2023/24. Restes has already played five games in the Europa League.

Restes is considered one of France’s greatest goalkeeping talents. The left-footed player has been playing for the country’s junior national teams for years, and the 18-year-old has already played six games for the U21 national team in the current calendar year.

At FC Bayern, according to Sky, Restes could only become an issue in the medium term. There are therefore no plans to sign the youngster for the coming summer.

Who will look after FC Bayern’s goal after Neuer’s career ends?

Due to the extensions of Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich, a changing of the guard in goal will only take place from the 2025/26 season. As the TV station recently reported, three other names are already on Bayern’s list: Mike Maignan from AC Milan, Gregor Kobel from BVB and Alexander Nübel, currently on loan to VfB Stuttgart.

Nübel still has a contract with FC Bayern until 2025. This means that the Munich team would have to extend the contract with the 27-year-old if he is really to become Neuer’s successor. However, it is uncertain whether the goalkeeper will extend his contract until then only to be loaned out again.

In Daniel Peretz, the German record champions had already signed a promising player last summer who wants to fight for a regular place in Munich in the next few years.
