Bavaria’s goalkeeper Sven Ulreich is in a very difficult time. His son Len died.

Sven Ulreich, replacement goalkeeper from FC Bayern Munich, lost his six -year -old son Len. This was announced by the Ulreich couple on Friday on the social network Instagram: “In deep grief, we would like to tell today that our son Len died a few weeks ago after a long, serious illness”.

“The decision to make this public now is infinitely difficult for us – but it is an important step for us as a family to create clarity in our environment and also in public. Together with our daughter, we are now trying to get back to life step by step,” said Sven and his wife Lisa Ulreich in the message. Daughter Malia is nine years old.

The two would particularly like to thank families, friends and FC Bayern Munich “for great discretion and great support in the past few months.

In the past few months, Ulreich had always missed FC Bayern games for personal reasons. In particular, he no longer competed with the record champions. Now it is also clear why. It was only on Tuesday that the 36-year-old had now extended his contract at FC Bayern for another year.

Ulreich has been playing at Bayern since 2015 – with an interruption in the 2020/21 season, for which he switched to Hamburger SV. Then he had returned to Munich directly. There he has been highly valued for many years as a reliable representative of Stammentorupuner Manuel Neuer and also in the team and in the club as a whole.

Sports board member Max Eberl said in the message about the substitute goalkeeper: “Sven Ulreich is reliability in person: he does what he promises – in the truest sense of word. Characters like him do every team well. We are very happy that we have another season with us.”
