According to technical director Alex Kroes, this is the moment for a career step for Gorter. “Jay is still relatively young and needs more playing minutes to develop. His contract went on for only one season,” says Kroes. “He now gets that chance of playing time in Cyprus at a great club and we have desired him a nice and successful continuation of his career.”
Gorter, born Amsterdammer, played in the youth of Ajax between 2021 and 2014. He then took steps at Go Ahead Eagles, where he was part of the first selection. In 2021 Gorter set foot on Amsterdam soil, where he made his debut a year later at Ajax 1 at the cup match against Excelsior Maassluis.
Halfway through the 2022-2023 season, the goalkeeper was rented for six months to the Scottish club Aberdeen FC. In total, Gorter was sixteen official matches under the bar at the first team of Ajax.
