Goal of the month November 2022: Podolski wins for the 13th time

Status: 12/17/2022 7:52 p.m

Lukas Podolski is Goalscorer of the Month for the 13th time. His goal in the Polish Ekstraklasa wins in November 2022 with almost 42 percent of the vote.

When it comes to goal of the month, Lukas Podolski is the measure of all things and will probably remain so for a long time, if not forever. More than five years after his last goal of the month (in the DFB farewell game), the now 37-year-old continues to build on his record. With now 13 titles, he is unchallenged and by far at the top of the all-time best list. Second-placed Jürgen Klinsmann (seven TdM) and third-placed Klaus Fischer, Mario Basler and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (all six TdM) can no longer pose a threat to Podolski for understandable reasons. The active footballer who comes closest to the ex-national player is Serge Gnabry with four goals a month.

Super-distance shot

Of all his goals this month, the 13th is from long-range. Podolski gets the ball from beyond the halfway line in the game Górnik Zabrze vs. Pogon Szczecin. A quick look and he realizes that the opposing goalkeeper is way too far in front of his goal. Podolski is doing what he’s been famous and notorious for throughout his career: firing with his incredibly talented left foot. The ball sails almost 60 meters through the air and finds its way unerringly into the mesh of the Stettiner Tor to make it 4:1.

Over 40,000 votes for Podolski

The ex-Cologne native received almost 42 percent and over 40,000 of all votes for his goal from super distance, leaving the competition far behind. Second is Nina Lührßen from Werder Bremen (19 percent), third is Armindo Sieb from SpVgg Greuther Fürth (16 percent).
