The equalizer of the team from Deventer only fell during injury time. NEC finished the game with ten men, after two yellow cards for substitute Philippe Sandler in the final phase. The Nijmegen residents occupy sixth place after the draw, Go Ahead is tenth.

After the victory in Athens, trainer Melvin Boel saw no reason to change his team. The home team was dangerous a number of times in the first half hour. A free kick by Jakob Breum ended up on the bar via a defender, after which Milan Smit almost benefited from a blunder by NEC keeper Gonzalo Crettaz.

Red Sandler and Late Treffer Nauber

NEC then opened the score in the 32nd minute. Koki Ogawa headed through goalkeeper Jari De Busser Raak, 0-1. Gerrit Nauber was then twice with a header close to the equalizer, after which a mandent from Mathis Suray ended up on the crossbar.

Although both teams kept looking for a goal after the break, the keepers barely had to take action for a long time. A shot by NEC captain Tjaronn Chery flew on the post ten minutes before time. Sandler, back from an injury, saw yellow twice a minute later. A header from Nauber then flew in via a Nijmegen leg.
