De Boeck started his football career at second division club FC Boom. He also played for KV Mechelen and Anderlecht, where he became captain and played champions three times. He also played 34 times for the Red Devils. Due to several serious knee injuries, he stopped playing football in 2005.

As a trainer, he was first assistant to Franky Vercauteren at Anderlecht. He then worked as head coach at Cercle Brugge, Germinal Beerschot, VVV Venlo, Beveren, Mouscron, KV Kortrijk, Lokeren and again KV Kortrijk. That was his last assignment as a trainer.

De Boeck died surrounded by his family.
