Wolverhampton Wanderes paid 40 million euros to FC Porto in the summer of 2020 for the then 18-year-old Fábio Silva. The offensive player, who was the most expensive purchase in Wolves history at the time, has not had a breakthrough since then. It will now be awarded for the third time in the upcoming winter transfer phase. The Glasgow Rangers reported completion on Thursday evening.

The 55-time Scottish champion has reached an agreement with the Premier League club on a short-term commitment until the end of the season. There should be no purchase option for the striker, who is tied to Wolves until 2026. According to reports, scout Nils Koppen, who is moving from PSV Eindhoven – where Silva spent the second half of the 2023/23 season – to Glasgow at the turn of the year, was largely responsible for the deal.

The Rangers reportedly prevailed against a number of other clubs, including city rivals Celtic Glasgow as well as Eintracht Frankfurt, Union Berlin, Borussia Mönchengladbach and SC Freiburg were said to be interested. After temporary transfers to RSC Anderlecht (first half of 2022/23) and Eindhoven, this is Silva’s third loan since moving to England. For the Wolves he had five goals and six assists in 72 games.
