It is important to find a candidate who “thinks about sporting developments and innovations permanently”, but at the same time is also able to “withstand the pressure to which he is exposed to a traditional club like Borussia”. Gladbach offers managers a good environment, says Stegemann, and therefore has a good reputation. “If you are looking for the challenge to shape something, and you can do that at Borussia, he is the right candidate. He needs media strength, great self -confidence and a clear philosophy and orientation where the club should go.”
With regard to possible squad reinforcements in the January transfer window, Stegemann said: “The willingness is there to put something in the team, I can assure that. (…) The sporting success is above everything.
