Borussia Mönchengladbach is apparently about to announce a stadium change. Accordingly, the Bundesliga club has concluded a deal that affects the name of the arena.

The days of Borussia Park are numbered. As “Bild” and “Rheinische Post” unanimously report, Borussia Mönchengladbach has sold the so-called naming rights to the stadium. The club has therefore concluded a deal with the energy service provider Ista, which will run from the 2026/27 season.

According to “Bild”, the contract has a volume of around 4.5 million euros. In return, the company will have the naming rights to Borussia Park from next season.

What exactly the stadium will be called is not yet known.

Borussia Mönchengladbach: What will the stadium be called from the summer?

According to reports, Borussia is insisting that the previous name “Borussia Park” not disappear completely. The new deal will be announced and further details will be given at a press conference on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

The club’s active fan scene had already expressed criticism after the first rumors about the naming rights deal.

So far she had made her displeasure known in flyers. Above all, the fact that there was no broad exchange with the fan base before the decision was made caused anger among the supporters. Further protests at the stadium are likely to follow in the coming weeks.

Most of the Bundesliga clubs have sold the naming rights of their respective stadiums. Only four teams are an exception here, including FC St. Pauli with the Millerntor Stadium, Union Berlin’s stadium at the Alten Försterei as well as Hamburger SV and the Volksparkstadion and the Bremen Weserstadion.

Borussia Park in Mönchengladbach opened in 2004. The traditional club had previously played on the legendary “Bökelberg”.
