With a deserved success against the favorite opponent from Gladbach, Borussia Dortmund added the champions League places to hunt. BVB defeated Borussia 3: 2 (3: 1) and now only has four points behind the coveted fourth place.
Gregor Kobel tore up his fists with a cry, thundered thunderstorm flashes over the stadium. With new energy, Borussia Dortmund is still chasing the Champions League places in the Bundesliga-the 3: 2 (3: 1) against the favorite opponent Borussia Mönchengladbach has introduced BVB to the big goal to four points. The players celebrated this hand in hand in front of the south grandstand.
“We are much safer, much more stable. It was extremely important,” said Pascal Groß in the “DAZN” interview after a deserved victory. “All three goals came from the back area, so we really hurt Gladbach. Now we have four more endgames.” Nevertheless, Dortmund is dependent on shooting aid in the final sprint, the team of coach Niko Kovac must not afford dropouts.
BVB needed a few start -up time against Gladbach. It was only after the deficit by Ko ItaKura (24th) and the injury -related replacement of Maximilian Beier found Dortmund into the rhythm and, thanks to the furious minutes, turned the game in the final phase of the first half. Serhou Guirassy (41.), Felix Nmecha (44th) and Daniel Svensson (45.+5) ensured a supposedly comfortable lead.
“That must never happen,” criticized Kevin Stöger, who had once again shortened in a penalty (56.). Dortmund brought the 18th victory from the past 19 home games against Gladbach over time.
Gladbach succumbed to BVB force
The fact that the BVB is in this delicate location at all has gone through many weak phases this season. Dortmund cried his great potential far too rarely – it still seems realistic that BVB could miss the Champions League for the first time in ten years. Even the qualification for the Europa League or the Conference League is by no means certain.
BVB undoubtedly has the potential for the premier class, which was impressively showing that in the final phase of the first half. As with the KO during the week in the Champions League against FC Barcelona (3-1), Dortmund was hard to stop – because large and the Carney Chukwuemeka, which was substitute for Beier, won her duels in midfield and thus created space for combinations.
The guests had little to oppose the force of the Dortmund, and right at the beginning of the second half they gave them some chances of the fourth goal. But then the BVB brought itself into trouble: NMECHA took Gladbach’s international Tim Kleindienst in the penalty area. According to the video referee, Daniel Siebert (Berlin) decided on a penalty that Stöger casually converted.
It now became more hectic, the technically inferior Gladbachers sensed their chance of unexpected point gain. Dortmund did not succeed in ensuring more calm with long possession phases. In this phase, BVB went to risk too often in their straightforward game and unnecessarily afforded a large number of ball losses. Dortmund only came through individual actions as with Julian Rerson (65.).
