Girl (8) receives $ 800,000 compensation after chicken nugget burns

McDonald’s was held liable by the state of Florida for both physical and mental harm. The parents had demanded 15 million, but said earlier that they “actually have no expectations.”

In 2019, the then four-year-old girl went through the McDrive in Tamarac with her mother and brother. She was sitting in the backseat eating her chicken nuggets when suddenly one came between her seatbelt and her skin. That led to severe burns and loud screaming. The photos of the burns and a recording of the screams were used as evidence in the case. In addition to the compensation, the girl also has a scar from the incident.

According to McDonald’s, the amount of $ 800,000 was a bit large, the company itself thought of a compensation of no more than $ 156,000. For example, the company states that it does not feel responsible for what customers do with the products and also states that the food must be warm enough to prevent salmonella infections.
