Girl (17) suspected of attacks with fireworks bomb on two houses

On October 2, 2023, Eindhoven was shocked by two loud bangs. Fireworks bombs caused significant damage to two houses on Antwerpenlaan and Looierstraat. Justice believes that a 17-year-old girl stuck the bombs on the windows of the houses and lit them. She did it for the money. The case went to trial on Monday.

In court, it was not the girl in the dock but three other suspects. It involved three men, one of whom was said to have been the girl’s driver. The justice system sees the other two men as the clients.

Cobras
The girl was picked up by the driver at home in Waalre on the day of the attacks. According to the justice department, they then collected cobras from an address in Eindhoven. They then drove to the two houses in Eindhoven where the girl allegedly committed the attacks.

People were present in both homes at the time of the explosions, but no one was injured. A friend of one of the residents of the house in Antwerpenlaan is said to live in the house on Looierstraat.

Explosion filmed
The driver is said to have filmed one of the explosions. He and the girl would then have received 250 euros. They had to share that amount. From messages on their mobile phones, law enforcement concluded that the two were up for more such jobs. They could use the money. The clients also had similar plans.

Nothing is yet known about the motive for the attacks. It was a preliminary hearing in court on Monday. The substantive treatment of the facts will follow later. The three adult suspects will remain in custody until the trial continues. The girl is not stuck. Because she is a minor, she can await the remainder of the trial in freedom.
