The U19 of VfB Stuttgart wins the final against VfL Wolfsburg. There is also a name that draws attention.

In Potsdam’s Karl Liebknecht Stadium, VfB Stuttgart’s U19 cup victory on Friday evening also became a special family moment – for familiar faces.

VfB beat VfL Wolfsburg’s U19s 3-0 in the final and won the title for the fifth time. More than 8,000 spectators watched the game in the stadium.

Giovanni Zarella’s son celebrates victory in the DFB Cup

After the game, the Stuttgart team celebrated on the pitch. In the middle of it all is a 17-year-old with a well-known name: Gabriel Zarrella. His parents, the TV presenter couple Giovanni and Jana Ina Zarrella, were also in the stands.

Zarrella junior, who has been playing for Stuttgart since 2024, came on as a substitute shortly before the end and witnessed his team’s success directly on the pitch. It was only last December that the 1.90 meter talent extended his contract until June 30, 2027.

After the final whistle, the family posed together with the trophy for souvenir photos. Jana Ina Zarrella took her son in her arms immediately after the victory and later shared the scene in her Instagram story. He then wrote: “A sporty and emotional weekend comes to an end. In the end, life consists of memories and unforgettable moments that stay in your heart forever. It’s exactly these days that you never forget.” The teenager can also be sure of family support in other ways: at least one parent is there at every game the son plays.

Giovanni Zarrella himself also has a football past: the 47-year-old played in the AS Roma youth team from 1992 to 1994, and later in Germany, among others, with the second team of SSV Reutlingen in the association league.
