“We have never had a rest for a moment. It is only for the boys,” says Melvin Vos, volunteer at the fire brigade in Naarden. Together with about ten firefighters, he cleans the rows of cars today between noon and 3 p.m. “They keep coming. We didn’t expect this.”
Possibly the Saharazand caused the Netherlands last night for extra crowds. “We don’t know exactly why it is that so many people are here today. We have advertised well, so that may have helped. We are certainly happy with it that it is such a success.”
Money goes to Princess Máxima Center
With the campaign, the fire brigade raises money for the Princess Máxima Center, the largest research and care center in Europe for children with cancer. Vos: “Radio 538 previously held an action to raise money for the center with the ‘morning run’. We thought it was a great goal and that inspired us to do something.”
In about 3.5 hours they have washed 132 cars by hand. With that, the fire brigade raised around 1,400 euros for charity.
In the video above we talk about a yield of 700 euros. Ultimately, this amount doubled.
